Join us for the thesis defense of John Odudele, MA candidate in Applied Linguistics at UAF. His research explores how Black African English teachers navigate racial and linguistic biases while teaching English in Turkey.

In this compelling talk, John sheds light on the unique challenges these teachers face—not because of their qualifications or fluency, but because of how their race intersects with ideas of what a "native speaker" should look and sound like. His work has important implications for equity in global English language teaching.
